Luke 23:1-7
As the day continued, Jesus’ trials became more severe. Because they lacked the authority to do anything they pleased with Jesus, the Chief Priests and Pharisees handed Him over to Pilate, the unbelieving Roman governor of Judea who wielded the power to execute criminals. Unknowingly, they brought the Messiah to someone who would proclaim a truth that they were all covering up and denying: Jesus Christ was innocent and had done nothing wrong.
