Luke 20:45-47
Since His renown and His teachings have called into question the validity of the Scribes’ rule and authority, they have long wished to “expose” Jesus and have Him taken away. These men were supposed to be the ones to have led morally upright and holy lives. But Jesus, whose perceptive eyes and omniscient knowledge see beyond what man sees, knew what was in their hearts, and He saw the purpose behind every action they took. Instead of holiness and integrity, they were filled with selfishness and hypocrisy. He warns His disciples to be wary of them.
