Luke 14:1-6
This seemingly kind and surprising invitation to Christ from one of the Pharisees to a Sabbath dinner perfectly illustrates their cunning hostility and constant rejection of the Messiah, which was referred to in the preceding passage. But Jesus, being God, manifests His wisdom and authority and silences them by exposing their hypocrisy and their inconsistency.
